Daniel E. Hedden, a native of Farmington, Ohio, served in Company C of the 19th Ohio Infantry Regiment during the first part of the Civil War. He transferred to the 6th Ohio Cavalry Regiment before October 1862, and served as a commissary sergeant in northern Virginia until July or August 1863, when his enlistment expired.
